T O P I C R E V I E WmikejWithin the last year or two, I remember reading in a book (as opposed to on the Internet) a story about an Apollo 5/LM-1 propellant tank which survived re-entry and was subsequently recovered.I went back and searched the index of the books which I considered the "most likely suspects," but I was unable to locate the story.I have found a small amount of information on a couple of places on the Internet, but nothing substantial.Does anyone remember reading about this? Can anyone point me in the right direction, saving me a year or two of re-reading?Of course, any additional information on this topic would also be welcome.[Edited by mikej (November 14, 2006).]dtemple quote:Originally posted by mikej:Within the last year or two, I remember reading in a book (as opposed to on the Internet) a story about an Apollo 5/LM-1 propellant tank which survived re-entry and was subsequently recovered.I went back and searched the index of the books which I considered the "most likely suspects," but I was unable to locate the story.I have found a small amount of information on a couple of places on the Internet, but nothing substantial.Does anyone remember reading about this? A few years ago, a fragment or two from the remains of LM-1 were listed for sale on ebay. I was outbid and haven't seen any more since.mikej quote:Originally posted by dtemple: I believe I read this in "Chariots For Apollo" by Charles Pellegrino and Joshua Stoff.Yep, that's the story I was looking for!
